Philippians 2:13
The word “working” in Greek translates to energeo which stands for ‘energy.’ If you were to replace the word working with it’s original definition in the text it would be, “For God is energy in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” It’s crazy how just changing one word in the text allows you to see a new perspective, to see a bigger picture. The bigger picture here is that no matter what you go through – the good, the bad, and the ugly, God will give you the energy to follow through and work in you as you follow His will.
I know in my life I can have a zoomed in vision of my situation. In fact, recently I had to make a difficult decision. For weeks my zoomed in perspective had me doubting that God was on my side. I doubted that He was going to take care of me after the fact. Isn’t it funny how the enemy can get you in a place of disobedience and get you to believe it’s because, “Maybe this time God isn’t gonna work through you” (even though He always has before?) Thank God I chose to do it anyway, because the enemy was wrong. God was on my side. He knew that I would need energy to make this decision and that after He was going to work through me.
2 Corinthians 3:18
You cannot reproduce the character of God on your own. I could not be more like Jesus if I stay more like myself. My ‘self’ is filthy, dirty, broken, insecure, selfish, and sinful. The only thing that can make us more like Christ is Christ himself. More than that, the Holy Spirit was sent to be our helper. To an outside ear the idea of the Holy Spirit may sound like miraculous religious act, but in fact the Holy Spirit’s power is given to us in our quiet moments. For me, it’s always either a tug on my heart or an overwhelming wave of peace.
So I leave you with this, whatever you’re going through know that God is on your side. He is working everything out for not only His good, but yours. He wants the best for you. He wants you to be happy. He wants your dreams to come true. He wants you to get the girl/guy of your dreams. He wants you to have it all, and you can. Pastor Sonia once told our team in China that God is, “Rolling up his sleeves, digging, working, molding. Saying to his children, “Just keep going cause I’m working on their situation. I hear their prayers. I’m working. I never stop.” Keep praying and believing that whatever it is He is calling you to do, He will give you the energy to do so. He is on your side. It will come.
