Profile of a Protagonist is a recurring blog post with the goal of showing readers how individuals in our Voice community engage in the Gospel and see God’s love lived out throughout Orlando. Meet the protagonists.
Meet Jessica Gauthier.
Tell us about yourself:
“My name is Jessica Gauthier and I am 25 years old. I currently am the assistant intern director at Mainstream Leadership College. I have been saved for 13 years and to be honest I learn something new every day about myself and God as I continue to follow Him. I like the outdoors and wish that Florida was a mountainous state with better weather but since Florida is sunshine, beaches and rain it gives me a reason to travel. If I could do one thing for the rest of my life it would be to travel and help people. I just want to make Jesus’ name known by serving others.”
What Jessica didn’t tell you about herself:
You can probably find Jessica helping design and literally building one of Mainstream Orlando’s sets; while at the same time serving in other areas of ministry.
Jess’ love for serving and God also allows her to lead and be there for over 40 different personalities; the interns of Mainstream Orlando.
She is a loyal friend who is always making people laugh and also your go to person for good music and adventure.

1) How do you see God in the city of Orlando?
I love Orlando a lot and I love the people of Orlando. I like to drive around places of Orlando that I haven’t been to and scope out local shops. Finding the hidden gems of our city and seeing the beauty in those places shows me that God is everywhere. Like, I am just a person in a city full of other people- I mean we are all just people in cities full of people. Am I right? But I see God in our city by admiring the people that our city is full of. I see God the most, though, when us (the church) are able to show love to the city. My favorite thing we have done is hurricane clean up. I personally got to help so many people who have never even been to the church. That outreach showed me that loving & serving people is the most effective ministry there is.
2) What is your favorite part about being the director of interns at Mainstream?
My favorite part of getting to help direct the intern program is seeing the growth in the students who enter the program, getting to see them accomplish their goals and then impacting others.
3) What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received was from Pastor Sonia when I was in the 8th grade. She probably doesn’t remember saying it but it is, “Trust God and you will trust your future.” Such a simple quote but it is 100% true.
4) How has the Voice Impacted your walk with Christ?
The Voice has impacted my life because it has created an atmosphere of freedom for me. The Voice is my safe place, a place I can go and surrender all I am to God and give him all of me and not feel judged. The Voice has impacted my walk with Christ in many ways, its allowed me hear his voice is the small whisper, feel his presence in the biggest crowd and see Him face to face in the hardest times.
