“I am so bored.”
“I don’t know what to do with my time.”
“What am I going to do with my life for two weeks?”
“Jesus take the wheel and Corona!” (Well, I may be the only one who might probably say that. Please excuse my extraness)
“I am going to eat all of my quarantine food by noon.”
“I’ve never worked from home.”
“Do I have the Rona? It can’t be. I’ve washed my hands every 5 minutes…even when the patients on Grey’s Anatomy sneezes or coughs.” This ain’t a game…sorry extraness again.
With Corona being on a world wide tour, there are many thoughts running through our minds. Let’s be real! I know I am not the only person. Our minds are flooded with thoughts that we can’t control or scenarios that have not happened yet. All of these thoughts just bring stress and anxiety into our lives. I know I can be guilty of it at times.
With all that’s going on in our world today, I want to bring a thought we may not have said since the Coronavirus, however in the past, we’ve all used this phrase at some point of time in our lives:
“IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!” -ERRRRRBODY or EVERYBODY
When we say statements like that we believe we are being effective by keeping structure. Maybe we’ve said “We have always done it this way” to keep the culture running the same. Or We just want to play it safe. I don’t know about you, but I am done playing it safe when it is VERY clear that the enemy of our souls (Just in case you DIDN’T KNOW…it’s Satan) is having a field day with this Coronavirus madness going on. He is enjoying watching our world fall apart as people are living in fear. But he TRIED IT! He done messed with the wrong ONE. He wants to confuse and distract us when we use this statement.
When we say “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” we are hiding behind the fact that we honestly don’t like change. So we mask it with statements like “We will mess everything up of our norm”, or “I’ve always been this way”, or maybe even saying “It’s always worked for us. Let’s not reinvent the wheel”.
It’s okay if you don’t like change. Be honest. TRUST ME, I am the QUEEN of not liking change; but I know that with change, comes growth. I REFUSE to allow this virus and the mayhem that comes with it to stifle my growth. I got things to do in 2020, even if I have to do it from the comfort of my own home for two weeks. As the kids say….PERIOD! (Who am I kidding….I say that too.)
Isaiah 43:19 (NLT) tells us “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
God is always doing new things around. We should not be afraid of the changes, we should be EXCITED! When things are broken, God is ready to fix it. It’s His job, not ours. In times of change, God always reveals things to us that no man can ever come up with. GOD IS WILD!!! God ALWAYS comes out on top. HE is the MOST creative being of all. Just when we think we got Him figured out…BOOM..He blows our mind. I am excited to see what God will bring out of me in spite of this Rona.
We can continue to day “IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!”, but with the RONA running wild, WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BREAK IT. We can’t stay comfortable anymore. What good is it to you if you only sit in front of a television catching up on all the Netflix you can to pass the time of this pandemic? Nothing. Although we have PLENTY of time to binge watch our series, the trust is….AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT! Point blank and a period!
What wheels in your life can you break during this pandemic to better yourself? Maybe you can…
- Pick up a new skill
- Start worship nights with your family
- FaceTime the people you love
- Read your Bible more
- Buy groceries for someone
- Meet up with people you know to check up on them
- Finally reorganize and declutter your house…can someone say HGTV!
- Make a meal or two for your family
- Learn a new hobby
- Work on that business plan
- Vision cast for 2020
- Rebuild relationships with your family/friends
- Read books
- Reach out to your coworkers
- Write a blog post

For me, what I’ve decided to do is put myself on a schedule that I will follow every day.

Of course, I may have to alter it depending on the day, but it’s all about intentionally. If I can be honest, I struggle with structure at times, so this will help me refocus and get my life together because I can’t be truly effective for God’s plan if I can’t learn to manage my time. Straight up facts! Whatever you choose to do, whether big or small, just decide to remain consistent. Your Post-Corona self will thank you in two weeks:)
There is NO REASON why we shouldn’t be better individuals, better roommates, better leaders, better employees and just better post Coronavirus! When all this Rona mess passes, if you are the same person you were before it all, then my friend…YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Let’s not be a part of the problem…let’s be a part of the solution (the cure).
