The Eyes of Majesty

My Messiah’s Eyes blaze with fire.

Have I been distracted from His gaze once again? It’s too easy, especially when the world is screaming for my attention.

All the while, there He is watching, caring, and waiting.

What is He waiting for, I wonder?

I focus in and take a closer look, to find something I had never noticed before: My Messiah’s eye color.

A compilation of diverse colors and their shades.

Not only do I see a piercing, clear blue, but also wonderful browns, variations of white, yellows, reds, and any other color you could think of.

I continue to stare in amazement at how beautifully these colors look next to each other, as they look like a cohesive blue from far away. But with more intent examination, there is much variety and it is truly a majestic site.

I refuse to get distracted, and as I stare, I notice these colors are not still. They are moving, and not just with My Messiah as He comes in closer.

They are dancing.

He smiles wide and gently places His hands on my shoulders. “This is what I’ve been waiting for.”

Still unsure, but very curious, I inquire of Him to explain further.

“Yes, I have been watching you. I have been hoping that as you press past the noise of the world, you would not only know that I am watching and caring for you, but also that you would begin to catch my vision for what I watch and care for.”

“Oh My Messiah, I deeply desire to adopt your cause.

Please share?”

He laughs and looks at the ground, and then looks back up to meet my gaze once more, becoming incredibly still and softening His smile…

“My dear, you are looking at it. These wonderful colors that you are captivated by are my vision, my cause. They are my children. Their diversity was my idea, and when they are in unity with one another, it looks like one cohesive color from afar.

The beauty is in their differences and I wait and watch and care so deeply for them to see this, too.”

I could believe it. My Messiah is passionately wanting His children to recognize the beauty of each other. This is what consumes Him – love for His kids and their love for each other.

May we spend time with our Messiah and adopt His vision, His cause, as we determinedly gaze into His eyes with no distraction and begin to appreciate those dissimilar and glorious colors that He beholds.

“So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.” – John 13:34-35
