Got Keys?

Make Sure You’re Protected from Satan’s Plan to Destroy You

by Kristen Mary Regina

“And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

– Matthew 16:19

You freak out when you lose your car keys. You cry hysterically when you forget where your house keys are. Okay, maybe you’re not hysterical, but still, it is not a good hair day for you when your keys go missing. As believers, we have access to the authority and power of God through the permission given to us by Christ through the “keys” He’s given us. These keys allow us to speak and see things come to pass that were waiting in the heavenly realms for us to release through our words. Though, our words only hold weight when we have our keys.

Our keys are held tightly in our grip as we live and move and breathe in Christ. When Jesus says, “Remain in Me and I in you” and “apart from Me you can do nothing,” in John 15, He is talking about our keys – our authority. Authority comes from knowing our place and position in Christ. Can you lose your authority? Yes. When we “fall from our high place” as Paul describes in Ephesians through open doors in our lives, we are falling from the authority that we have graciously received through Christ. This brings me to another Scripture:

But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. And ‘don’t sin by letting anger control you.’ Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” – Ephesians 4:20-27

Sin gives way to the devil. Your keys allow you to lock doors that don’t need to be open. These doors need to stay locked, so that the enemy can’t get in and torment you. When we have open doors in our lives, we’re giving Satan an inch, and we all know the saying: “give an inch and they’ll take a mile.” Remember, he is a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Pt. 5:8). He wants to destroy, rip, and dismantle you. He will use whatever it takes to steal, kill, and destroy your life. I am writing this blog because I believe in you and I don’t want to see anyone waste precious time and abilities enslaved in things that they don’t have to be. This was me for many years. Enslaved in depression, anxiety, and a looming darkness and sadness that wouldn’t let up. But then, I realized what was really going on! There is something so beautiful placed inside of you, so I urge you to not allow the enemy legal rights over what God has entrusted you with!

What could that open door be for you? Jealousy, gossip, slander, lustful thoughts? What about the extrinsic factors, things we take in? Porn, sexual movies/music? Or the unseen things inside of us we might even be unaware of like unforgiveness, pride, or bitterness? What friends or relationships have caused you to “fall from your high place?” Your high place is where Jesus initially sets you when you become a Christian. He sets you on a rock, with a beautiful crown. He gives you the authority to speak and see His Kingdom come to earth. He has given us the authority to pull a fast one on Satan, and rip, destroy, and dismantle his destructive works.

Lately, I have been enjoying listening to John Ramirez, an Ex-Warlock, now Evangelist, who has committed his life to exposing Satan and his evil works against Believers. To quote him, he said, “when you give in to sin, you give the enemy legal rights to incarcerate your mind, weaken your mind, and essentially, weaken your authority.” In a podcast I watched called, “Spiritual Warfare Bootcamp” by Isaiah Saldivar and John Ramirez on YouTube, they talk about the concept of “permits.” In order to build, we need a permit. The same is true for the kingdom of darkness. What are you permitting the enemy to build in your mind? What strongholds are you permitting him to establish in your heart that make you more and more of a slave to sin? God has called us to be a Joshua generation, to see what God has given us, the dreams and desires He has put there, and go into our Promised Land and set it on fire! We are NOT a Moses generation, where they grew old, but never grew up.

Are you aggressive towards your calling and purpose in God? Are you a fierce protector of the preciousness of your intimacy with Christ? Remember Pastora’s words for this year? Integrity. Will you maintain it? Integrity is so much more than just “trying to be a good person” or finish a task well. Those are good goals, but what matters more are your motives. Are you motivated to live your most abundant life in Christ, holding tightly to your keys and watching as those around you, your neighborhoods, your cities, etc. are protected because of your authority? Guard your heart with everything you have, I urge you, friend! You are precious, valuable, and there is something so magnificent inside of you that God wants to use you for to help establish His Kingdom on earth, but are you up for the task? It is no joke.

Jesus believes in you, I believe in you. You can do this! Simply start by asking the Holy Spirit what open doors there are in your life, and ask Him for a game plan to shut those doors. Repentance and confession are a good, even great place to start. From that point, get some accountability in your life, someone who is preferably farther along in their walk than you are, and be honest with them about whatever it is you feel you have to share. From that point, though it sounds cliche, we have to make it an absolute priority to fill ourselves up with Jesus. Through worship, sermons, readings, etc. We don’t have a choice at this point. These times are dark, fierce even, and it is no longer optional to be a “neutral” believer (if that was even ever a thing?).

It’s all or nothing, friend, so please choose to give your all to Christ, and rise to the position and authority you have in Him. It’s time to get our keys back!
